The following rules will be in place and enforced for Anime Draft 2011. Please note that some of the rules may have changed or been clarified. Said changes will be noted in italics.
Signing Up:
-Any person wishing to play may watch the draft threads in GA for when the signups start. These will tentatively be in January.
-To sign up, please PM to the designated AD2011 admin a ranked list of characters you wish to use for round 1. This list may be as large or small as you like. The first character that has not been picked by another player prior to you will be your pick for round 1; all picks will not be announced officially until after the signup period has ended. Prior is defined as PMs arriving before yours at AoD, that are time coded for at least the designated start time. The AoD system clock will be the official basis for the time. You will receive a reply confirming your entry, and which character you are getting. In the event all your characters are picked, or your list comes in before the official start time, you will also be sent a reply indicating such. You may then send another list, which will be chosen from based on that time that is received. Do note that neither AoD nor AD11 admins will be responsible for replying immediately at the start time.
Getting In:
-There will be a minimum of 20 players allowed to play, more will be at the discretion of the AD11 admin(s) based on interest of players.
-All round 1 picks will be subjected to fast drafts if player interest is greater than the number of players being let in by the AD11 admin(s), lasting 48 hours each, with characters seemingly randomly put into 5 mini-polls. The top 2 of each poll will get into the draft. Remainders will be shuffled about into another 5 mini-polls, with only winners of each 2nd poll getting in. Leftovers will be thrown into a big final pre-poll, the top N getting in, where N is equal to the number of players allowed into the draft.
-Should there be a tie in the first 2 mini-polls, both players will be allowed in, reducing the number allowed in the final round. A tie in the final round will result in an increase of the number of final players allowed.
-Draft positions 1-5 for round 2 will go to winners of the first mini-poll, 6-10 to the 2nd place takers in the first mini-poll, 11-15 are awarded to winners of the second mini-poll, 16-N are for the top scorers of the final poll. Higher positions (lower numbers) are given to the players with the highest number of votes for their mini-poll. Ties will push these numbers around, and the earlier slot will be given based on the order of the picks coming in.
-Players not making the final cut may still get in, please see other rules for ejection clauses.
-Any characters not making the final draft are eligible for redraft by any player.
-In the event that 20 or fewer players sign up, all the players will be guaranteed entry into the draft, and round 1 will immediately be held for final voting. Positions in round 1 will determine the draft order for round 2, again, ties being broken in the order in which the player signed up.
Drafting:
-Your pick from the fast polls will be your pick for round 1. The player in position 1 for round 2 will have 24 hours from the creation of the drafting thread to pick a character. Each player will have 24 hours from the person before them picking to make their own pick.
-There will be 12 rounds total.
-When making your pick, please change the subject to be: "round.pick in round Character (Series)" (without quotes).
-2011 will have a snaking draft. When the last person in round 2 makes their pick, round 3 immediately starts. The drafting for round 3 will be the reverse of round 2, thus the last drafter now must make their pick for round 3. The timer does NOT reset, this character must also be picked within the initial 24 hour window. The only exception to this would be if you miss your 24 hour window to make the pick, in which case you will get another 24 hours to make your pick for the second round of the snake. Failure to make the second pick within the 24 hours, whether or not you made your first pick, will also result in a missed draft. Do note that missing both drafts will slow the drafting process down by 48 hours, and will be cause for you to be ejected as a player. (See below.)
-The snaking will be variable. Round 4's drafting order will be announced during round 3's drafting, which may potentially result in a snake. The drafting order formula does not have to be disclosed, but must be decided on by the AD11 admin(s) beforehand. The formulas may change from year to year. Upon round 4 starting, round 5 will snake back up round 4's order, and will have round 6's drafting order announced then. This will continue through round 12, which will not snake back up.
-A player may not pick more than 1 character from a series universe. However, there will be no limit on the number of characters allowed from a given universe across the draft.
-Should a player miss a draft, they will be given a chance to pick it in round 13, after all main drafts are done. If a player misses a second draft, they will be ejected. If a player predicts that they may be away, they may submit a list to any other party to draft in their place.
-A person doing a proxy draft may not be instructed to hold the pick; they will be expected to make it at the first valid opportunity.
Voting/Scoring:
-Each round will be open for 1 week. Anyone, including the players and AD10 admins, may vote for up to 3 draftees. Voting will be done exclusively through the forum polls. Due to the forum software not limiting the number of votes, the results will be checked by an AD11 admin for validity. Any person who votes for more than 3 characters will have all of their votes nullified unless the admin is contacted before the end of the round with the final vote decisions.
-Upon a poll closing, points will be awarded. First place will be awarded N points, down to 1 point for Nth place. No bonus points will be awarded.
Ejection/Replacement:
-A player may be ejected for missing 2 draft picks, or causing a general nuisance of the game for others, to be defined in the next section.
-If we are in the drafting phase when a player is ejected, the next player who would have qualified will be moved into the ejected player's slot. The new player will have the option of keeping the other player's drafts, or to draft a new batch from remaining open characters. Should a player draft new, all previously drafted characters by the ejected player are again availiable. In order to reject the other person's drafts, you must wait for your draft turn to come, then post a complete list from round 1 to current round inclusive. Making a current draft only indicates that you wish to keep the other person's drafted characters.
-Should the game be underway in the voting phase when a player is ejected, that player's drafts will be removed from all future polls, all votes for that player's characters will be nullified, and scores will be adjusted accordingly.
Nuisance Trial Rules:
-Any person (player or not) may nominate a player to go to a problem trial. If a(nother) player seconds this, they will go to trial. The seconding must be by a player.
-To nominate a player, a post must be made to the AD11 thread, preferrably where an instance of the nuisance is present, where the seconding will also need to occur. Do not nominate via PM, as you will be told to post it to the thread.
-If a player goes to trial, the game will not be delayed. A seperate thread will be created with a simple yes/no poll to if the player is being obnoxious and/or reducing your enjoyment of the game. This poll will be open for 72 hours, and is open for all to vote in.
-If the poll ends, and there is NOT a majority voting yes, the poll is discarded, and all goes on. (A 50/50 split does not count for a majority yes.)
-To avoid a mass attempt to overtake a strong player, if someone has already been found not guilty, and a second trial is requested by someone, at least one of the following requirements must be met:
--Seconding by a forum admin, moderator, or an AD11 admin.
--Approval of retrial by at least 2 coaches AND 2 non-coaches.
--The player to go to trial permits the trial to go on.
-Should the player be found not guilty again, the player is exempt from further trial unless BOTH a forum admin/moderator AND an AD11 admin request one. In the event that 1 person can fit both roles, a second person from one of those categories must also request it. (Mods will be involved at this point, to ensure that rules are being enforced, and that nobody is being overtly rude.)
Good luck to all, and remember that while the winners get gloating rights, don't rest on your laurels, as you will need to earn your way back into AD2012!
